SEC Acting Enforcement Director To Resign

SEC Acting Enforcement Director to resign. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s announced on Tuesday tha its Acting Enforcement Director Marc Berger will leave the agency this month.

Berger took on the role of SEC’s top investigative post after ex Director Stephanie Avakian‘s departure at the end of 2020. He was moving up the agency ranks since December 2017.

SEC reported that Berger chaired the prosecution of the initial coin offering of Telegram by the agency and its launch of the unregistered securities suit against Ripple Labs. The SEC said that during Berger’s tenure with the firm, compliance personnel sought “meaningful relief” for victims of cryptocurrency fraud.
