Rogue to sign Odoamne for League of Legends Championship. For its League of Legends European Championship lineup, Rogue will sign former Schalke 04 top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu.
Odoamne will replace Finn “Finn” Wiestål, who has competed in the 2020 season with Rogue. Owing to a small champion pool, Finn was frequently criticised by critics and pundits as a poor link to Rogue. Odoamne is unable to formally sign with Rogue until Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. ET, the beginning of the free-agency 2020-21 League of Legends window.
Rogue started negotiating with former Origen top laner Barney “Alphari” Morris, considered one of the best in his position in the LEC, after their exit from the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. He narrowed it down to Rogue and Team Liquid at the end of his decision-making process, but Alphari would eventually sign with Liquid on Nov. 16 after proposing a multi-year contract worth more than $1 million in gross compensation per year.
Rogue became one of the strongest teams in the league in their second LEC year. The team finished first in the regular summer season, winning a world championship spot for themselves. They played with DAMWON Gaming and JD Gaming in a community there, considered two of the strongest teams in the world. At Worlds, Rogue’s went 1-5, taking a game off PSG Talon ‘s Pacific Championship Series team.
Odoamne spent 2019 and 2020 as a part of Schalke 04 Esports, who despite an awful spring split this year rebounded at the end of the summer regular season, qualifying for the playoffs and finishing just one place shy of making the world championship. Schalke 04 will rebuild around jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir and mid laner Felix “Abbedagge” Braun, although other members of that team may be brought back depending on how the remainder of the offseason shakes out, sources said.
