Riot Games Announces First Global Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship

Riot Games has announced the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship, an official competition for its auto battler title. The championship, set to take place later this year, will feature 16 players from across the world competing for a $200K USD prize pool.

Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship will have regional qualifiers across Brazil, China, Europe, Latin America, North America, and South Korea.

A merit-based system will be implemented for the tournament series and regional finals that allows “high-skill players to qualify for major competitions.” Each region involved in the event will have its own specific amount of qualification spots based on where the game is most popular and which has the highest level of players.

Whalen Rozelle, Director of Global Esports at Riot Games, spoke on the event in a release saying, “With the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship, we want to reward all of the players who dedicate their time to mastering Teamfight Tactics and provide an additional goal that exists beyond reaching the top of the ladder. To support this, we are creating a clear path to the Championship that will be globally accessible through both the in-game ladder and online tournaments.”
