Kindred Group secures Swedish licenses and will launch 5 of its brands in re-regulated market on 1 January 2019.
Kindred Group has secured Swedish gambling licenses, allowing it to legally operate in Sweden after re-regulation on 1 January 2019.
The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) granted the Kindred Group (previously Unibet Group) licenses on 30 November 2018, giving it permission to operate online commercial gambling and betting in Sweden.
The application process has been what Kindred calls “extensive”, with FortuneZ originally reporting on the Kindred application back in August (KINDRED APPLIES FOR SWEDISH LICENSE).
CEO of Kindred Group, Henrik Tjärnström, said:
“Today is a historic day for Kindred. We have been pushing for a modern and sustainable gambling market in Sweden from the very start of Unibet in 1997, in which the focus is on consumer protection and harm minimisation. I am extremely proud and delighted that we have finally reached this point and look forward to a new and better future for Kindred, for local sport and for those who enjoy gambling, in Sweden”,
Kindred plans to launch five of its brands in the newly re-regulated Swedish market on 1 January 2019. As part of its strategy, earlier this year the firm signed a major deal with the Swedish Elite Football Association, as principle sponsor for the Allsvenskan and Superettan leagues.
General Manager Sweden at Kindred Group, Dersim Sylwan, added:
“The licence in Sweden will give us new opportunities to provide our customers with an even better and more relevant gambling experience through new partnerships and offerings. It will also allow us to develop our involvement in Swedish society by engaging in local activities and projects, such as the sponsorship of Allsvenskan and Superettan”
The Kindred news coincides with Betsson Group announcing they have also received news Swedish licenses (read about that here).
