HSBC’s Spencer Lake to Part Ways with Group After 10 Years With Bank

HSBC is poised to see a void in its global banking and markets division following the announced departure of longtime company mainstay Spencer Lake, who will be parting ways with the lender after a tenure lasting a decade, according to a Bloomberg report.

Mr. Lake originally joined HSBC in 2006 and worked as its Global Head of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and Acquisition Finance. In this capacity he helped run HSBC’s multi-currency public, private, structured and vanilla debt origination, which included high grade, high yield securitization and event financing, as well as associated risk management globally.

Moreover, he also worked as the Global Co-Head of HSBC’s Global Markets Group, as well as a term as its Capital Financing Group General Manager. His most recent promotion came just seven months ago, which saw him ascend to the role of Vice Chairman, Global Banking and Markets, Group General Manager – he has been based out of London for the duration of his tenure with HSBC.

Prior to joining HSBC in 2006, Mr. Lake also worked at Merrill Lynch for over seventeen years in a variety of managerial roles including positions across its Financing and Risk Management units, dating back to 1989, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
