UK-based organisation Excel Esports has made two senior hires in the shape of Wouter Sliejjfers as CEO and Robin McCammon as CCO.
Former CEO, Keiran Holmes-Darby, is moving to the role of Chief Gaming Officer, while co-founder Joel Holmes-Darby will take up the role of Chief People Officer.
Sliejffers is bringing some impressive experience to Excel, having served as CEO of Fnatic for more than four years, and also serving in advisory roles at Socios, QuizBeat, Aggero and Maika’i.
Commenting on his new role, he said:
“Excel Esports is the most beloved brand in UK esports, and I’m delighted to take up this new challenge of building the organisation into a household name on a global scale.
“My experience helping create one of the most established brands in the industry meant I recognised Excel’s extraordinary potential immediately, and I’m thrilled to be helping chart its course to become an international success.”
McCammon was formerly Director of Global Sports Marketing at international sporting giant adidas, and has spent more than two decades building brands in the sports and lifestyle industries.
Notably, during his eighteen years with adidas, he was global lead on the World Cup 2014 project, 2012 UEFA Euro and was responsible for the brand’s relationships with some of the world’s biggest sports organisations, including FIFA, Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC.
His appointment as Chief Commercial Officer with Excel marks his entry into the world of esports.
Regarding his new role, McCammon said:
