Ashton Kutcher auctions digital art for ETH. The first attempt at digital art by Ashton Kutcher, a piece titled “The Eye of the Beholder” is being auctioned at Cryptograph.
Kutcher ‘s video on the blockchain-based art market reveals a new idea where the physical version is destroyed to guarantee the digital copy of a special cryptographic nature.
Kutcher’s piece, digitized in a low-resolution phone-camera shot, is a remarkably bare-bones doodle of cartoon eyes and a one-stroke star. The actor has picked two charities, Global Wildlife Conservation and Oxygen Seven, to receive a portion of the sale.
Cryptograph shared their insights on Kutcher ‘s historical dimension of the digital artwork saying “He has created a physical sketch drawn inside a book, which he then digitizes before destroying the physical version of his work, by burning it,” it said, in a statement.”
The firm added “His idea here is to show that his physical creation is fully transcending into the digital realm, where its authenticity and immortality is absolute. This action is deeply symbolic and provokes one to think more on how the physical and digital realms can be combined in new and interesting ways.”
Cryptograph is a blockchain technology transforming drawings into unique, digital artworks that can not be copied, stolen or destroyed. A portion of all sales are donated to artist’s choice charities.
