Activision Blizzard Launches Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship

Activision Blizzard has announced initial details for its Call of Duty: Mobile esports plans. The Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2020 takes place on April 30th with an initial qualifying stage. Sony Xperia has been secured as a presenting sponsor for the competition.

The first stage of the competition will take place through an in-game event where players will earn the right to advance to the next stage based on their individual performance. Those that make it to the next round will then create teams to compete in “Stage 2 and beyond” with details including prizing, rules, and broadcast platforms to be revealed at a later date.

Activision Blizzard appears to be treating Call of Duty: Mobile as a distinct ecosystem, using a structure that is more familiar to mobile users.
