SafeEnt, the embattled Global Gaming subsidiary, has been granted a review into the Swedish Gambling Authority’s (SGA) decision to terminate its online betting and gaming license.
The decision, from the Administrative Court of Appeal in Jönköping, will come as welcome relief to Global Gaming CEO, Tobias Fagerlund, who has previously vowed to fight for the return of the operator’s license (read more).
SafeEnt has its Swedish license revoked in June 2019, leading to the immediate closure of Ninja Casino in the market. At the time the SGA cited ‘serious breaches of anti-money laundering and responsible gambling regulations’ as justification for its drastic action.
However, Global Gaming has vigorously fought back, saying that the SGA had failed to give clear guidance. Despite being refused an appeal in November 2019 (read more), the Administrative Court of Appeal will now asses the SGA’s original decision and rule if it was correct or not. At the time of writing, it was unclear how long this process is expected to take.
