YouTube gaming stars Craig Douglas and Dylan Rigby have pleaded guilty to running an illegal betting website linked to popular video game ‘Fifa 17’.
In September 2016 the pair became the first people in the UK to be charged with offences under the Gambling Act, but pleaded not guilty during a hearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court in October.
The charges related to betting website FUT Galaxy that allowed players to win footballers for their collection within the ‘Fifa Ultimate Team’ section of the game.
Despite the initial ‘not guilty’ claim, Douglas and Rigby have now changed their plea to ‘guilty’ and currently await sentencing.
Douglas admitted to a charge of being an officer of a firm that provided facilities for gambling without an operating licence, in addition to another offence related to advertising unlawful gambling.
Rigby pleaded guilty to two charges related to providing facilities for gambling, as well as a third offence connected to the advertising of illegal gambling.
