Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Diogo Jota has won the ePremier League Invitational League against Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in a stunning match of FIFA20. Jota won on a golden goal after the final ended in 1-1. Alexander-Arnold went ahead and then put on a defensive masterclass before Jota eventually made his possession count and equalised. The match went to golden goal and, after Jota saw a shot cleared off the line and then hit the bar from the rebound, the Portuguese scored the winner.
Alexander-Arnold set the stage for the semifinals by producing a stunning comeback to eliminate Man City’s Raheem Sterling. The Liverpool man came roaring back from two goals down to equalise before sending the tie to golden goal and finally delivering the decisive blow to his Man City rival in extra-time in a 3-2 win.
After a pulsating conclusion to the opening tie, Jota then followed suit in the second semi by easing past McNeill with a consummate 4-1 victory.
Alexander-Arnold and Jota advanced to meet in the final which proved to be an altogether cagier affair. It went the distance but it was pre-tournament favourite Jota who slipped loose from his marker and powered home the winner to seal the inaugural ePremier League Invitational crown in spectacular style.
