Vietnam Police Catches $859 Million Online Gambling Ring

Vietnam police catches $859 million online gambling ring. Vietnam Police have busted a $859 million online gambling racket in northern Hung Yen Province, resulting in 20 arrests.

Several mobile phones, computers, SIM cards and about VND2 billion ($85.963) were seized by police in cash as evidence. About 100 Bank accounts involved in the case were also frozen by authorities.

The ring, which has been running millions of accounts since 2018, is the largest yet uncovered ring in Hung Yen, said provincial police.

Among the arrests, the Masterminds are Le Tuan Vinh, 32, Tran Thi Ngan, 30, Hoang Van Tan, 32, and Hoang Van Nham, 28.

Five level-one agencies were managed by the four masterminds through five different gambling websites, with their server outside Vietnam.

Each website is allocated about 20 level-one agencies, and each level-one agency would have tens of level-two agencies below, all spread across the world.

Such organizations publicly show personal details from gamblers, such as phone numbers or social media profiles, so players can get in contact with each other and perform transactions. The search is ongoing.
