The ‘Resident Evil’ Series Sold Over 100 Million Copies

The Resident Evil series sold over 100 million copies. Capcom has just reached a major milestone for itself and the survival horror genre: since the franchise kicked off in 1996, the developer has sold over 100 million copies of Resident Evil games (via PC Gamer) It did not break down series sales but noticed that RE7 sold 7.5 million units by itself. Within its first five days the resident Evil 3 remake sold 2 million copies.

The business has chalked the performance to many factors, most importantly a “consistent schedule” for new releases. It hasn’t let the franchise stay dormant for long — while that’s not as good as Capcom says, it does mean the show has been in the spotlight since its release.

In addition to this year’s RE3 and Resistance, players can expect Resident Evil: Village on the PS5 in 2021.
