Joshua “Jatt” Leesman has been hired as Team Liquid’s new head coach for the League of Legends Championship Series, the team announced Monday.
The change comes after Liquid finished ninth in the League Championship Series spring split. Following that finish, the team moved then-head coach Jang “Cain” Nu-ri to a strategic coaching role and traded veteran AD carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng to Team SoloMid.
“One thing watching the ‘Squad’ episode at the end of the spring split, it was clear that all the players in Team Liquid felt like they lacked an identity. I’m not going to be the type of coach that comes in and says, this is our identity this is how we’re going to play. I’m hoping that I’m able to gather all of the information from the players and the coaches and help align everyone towards the same goal. That’s how we’ll find an identity that everyone is able to buy into.” Jatt shared in a video released by Team Liquid on Twitter.
