Swissquote Selects Monica Dell’Anna as Newest Board Member

Swissquote has announced the selection of Monica Dell’Anna as the newest addition to the company’s Board of Directors.

The decision was reached by the current member of the board, and will be officially brought up for shareholders decision at the company’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held on May 4th. The appointment’s proposal to shareholders is likely just a formality, with no sensible or justifiable reasons to prevent it.

Experience is Key

Since March of 2016, Ms. Dell’Anna has been part of NZZ Mediengruppe, serving as the company’s Head of Business Media, as well as a member of the executive Board. Prior to that, she was also a member of GVM’s Board of Directors, for a period of two years from March 2014 through the same month in 2016.

Ms. Dell’Anna has maintained several positions on the Board of Directors for various companies. Overlapping her time as a member of GVM’s board, she worked for BKW Energy AG, taking on the position of Head of Market, as well as a member of the Group Executive Board. She held these positions for almost two and a half years, from September 2013 through December of 2015.

Where it all Began

A highly educated professional, Ms. Dell’Anna obtained a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from King’s College in London. The launch of her career was actually as a Research Associate for the college, where she remained for more than a year after completing her studies. She then became a Consultant for Mckinsey and Company, holding the position for a year and three months until March, 2003.

A substantial portion of her career was with Swisscom. After joining the company as a Strategy Manager in April 2003, she held various positions on her path toward the top. Her last position held at the company was Head of IT Transformation and Fiber to the Home (FTTH), while also taking on a role as a member of the company’s Executive Board. Her total tenure with Swisscom spanned over ten years, supplanting her as an industry veteran and leader.

Key Factors in Swissquote’s Decision

Ms. Dell’Anna’s vast experience, particularly on the executive level and her active participation as a member of various Boards of Directors were clearly valued by Swissquote.

Mario Fontana, Chairman of the Board for Swissquote released a comment on the board’s decision: “By appointing Monica Dell’Anna, we acquire and experienced business executive with a track record on digital transformation processes. We are convinced that she will be an effective addition to our Board.”

Swissquote Stays Active

In a noteworthy marketing campaign, the company released a video highlighting several Manchester United football players, in an effort to illustrate the long-term importance of decision making, and its application in the trading world.

Swissquote has also geared up for the recent surge in demand for cryptocurrencies. In July of last year, the company reached a partnership agreement with Bitstamp, in an effort to launch Bitcoin trading. Swissquote did not stop there, further expanding its cryptocurrency products in December, to include Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Litecoin, and Ripple.
