Standard Chartered Plc has secured the services of veteran FX and prime brokerage specialist as well as ex-Societe Generale executive Robert Gomprecht, who will serve as the group’s newest Head of e-FX Sales, according to an FXweek report.
Last month, Standard Chartered’s acting chief executive officer, Peter Sands, announced that he would be stepping down as the bank’s leading executive and leaving the board of directors in June. Sands had been the target of scrutiny following shareholder unrest.
In his new role as the head of e-FX sales at Standard Chartered, Mr. Gomprecht will focus on the Americas region, being based out of the group’s New York branch. He will be reporting to Michelle Wee, Standard Chartered’s Global Head of e-Sales in Singapore.
Mr. Gomprecht joins Standard Chartered from Societe Generale, having served as its director of e-FX sales in New York since 2013. Prior to this, he also held executive level roles at Bank of America (BofA) Merrill Lynch as its director of FX prime brokerage, as well as the VP of FX prime brokerage at JPMorgan, dating back to 2006.
