Online payment processor Skrill, a partner of numerous sportsbetting companies, has signed up to serve as the title sponsor for the Conference, football’s fifth tier in England.
Skrill has penned a three-year deal to run from 2013/14 to 2015/16 to succeed online betting company Blue Square Bet.
Skrill will sponsor the Conference’s top division, to be known as the Skrill Premier, as well as its two feeder leagues, which will be known as the Skrill North and the Skrill South.
Betfair, which completed a takeover of Blue Square Bet from Rank Group earlier this year, announced in April that the sponsorship deal for the Conference would not be renewed.
“By teaming up with the Football Conference we want to bring non-league football to more fans and enable them to support and access their local team in new and exciting ways,” Skrill president and Chief Executive Officer Siegfried Heimgaertner said.
Conference chairman Brian Lee added, “Skrill is a worldwide brand. I am sure they will during their time as title sponsor become well known throughout the game, let alone the Football Conference. Now I ask our clubs in turn to embrace Skrill and work with them.”
