Robinhood announced it has secured itself a new Chief Marketing Officer, with the commission-free stock trading app, appointing Christina Smedley to the role.

Christina Smedley Joins Robinhood From Facebook
Smedley joins Robinhood from Facebook, where she spent more than four years, according to her LinkedIn profile. Most recently, she was the Vice President of Brand & Marketing for the social media giant’s Novi – a digital wallet for the Libra blockchain payment network.
At the beginning of her Facebook career, she created the communications strategy for Messenger, in which new products and services were launched to new audiences, such as Messenger Kids.
Earlier in her career, Smedley was the VP, Global Brand and Communications at PayPal. She joined the payments company in October of 2012 and moved on to Facebook in November of 2015.
Commenting on her new role, Christina Smedley, Chief Marketing Officer at Robinhood, said in the statement: “I downloaded the Robinhood app in 2015 and have valued the company’s focus on customer experience and the impact it has had for those, who can now access the financial markets in a very refreshing way.
“Robinhood is already well-loved and has enormous potential, and it truly helps people do more with their money and take control of their financial destinies. With so much changing around us, building a brand enabling this sort of empowerment and connecting with our customers – especially those who can really thrive from it – is beyond exciting.”
Earlier in her career, Smedley worked for Amazon during its formative years, from 1999 to 2004. During her time there, she was the Director of Worldwide Communications. She also held senior positions at Edelman.
