Riot Executive Resigns Following Critical George Floyd Social Post

Riot executive resigns following critical George Floyd social post. Ron Johnson made the decision to resign from the gaming provider. This come just days after Riot Games put the executive under investigation.

Ron Johnson served as the head of global consumer since December 2019. Johnson fell under investigation following his critical social post downgrading the recent death of George Floyd. Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent shared Johnson’s resignation in an internal note to their employees.

Laurent declined to inform employees on the measures the company took for the investigation. He declined to comment on Johnson’s intentions and views behind the social post adding that everyone has their own political views. However, he believes that Johnson made a poor call in sharing those critical posts. Laurent added that Johnson’s post was insensitive and it goes against the company’s support of justice reform and racial equality.

Riot Games recently made a commitment of $1 million to support justice reform and black-owned businesses. They also committed to areas they know can make an impact. This include long term solutions addressing racial bias.
