Playtech Signs Deal with Greek Betting and Lottery Operator

London listed gaming and financial industry giant Playtech has sealed a deal with one of the leading Greek gaming and lottery operators. The company that purchased CFH Clearing for $120 million in November last year has signed an agreement with OPAP to deliver self-service betting terminals.

Last year, Playtech acquired Austrian company Best Gaming Technology for €138 million. The firm develops software for self-service betting terminals. The deal with the Greek operator is a direct result of the assets which Playtech acquired at the time.

The agreement with OPAP is for three years and includes the machines, relevant software and services and a follow up introduction of an Over-the-Counter (OTC) sports betting solution in 2018.

The Playtech BGT Sports unit, which includes the Austrian acquisition, will deliver recently-launched compact SSBTs throughout 2017, with the initial roll-out of the machines commencing in 2017.

The Chief Executive Officer of Playtech BGT Sports, Dr. Armin Sageder, said: “There are multiple opportunities to further develop our relationship as OPAP looks to enhance its digital retail offering and we believe today’s agreement marks the start of a long and successful relationship.”

“The introduction of SSBTs is aligned with our strategic priority to build a world-class portfolio of products and services for OPAP. Our cooperation with Playtech will contribute to the considerable improvement of our retail sports-betting offering and the enhancement of our customers’ experience,” said OPAP CEO Damian Cope.
