Patterson Resigns From The American Gaming Association

Judy Patterson, senior vice-president and executive director of the American Gaming Association, has resigned from the US trade organisation and gaming industry lobbying group.

Patterson, who was the second-in-command at the group, will remain a consultant to the organisation for the next year.

She helped to establish the group in 1995 with former president Frank Fahrenkopf Jr., who also opted to step down from his role earlier this year.

During her time at the group, Patterson helped to create Global Gaming Women, an organisation that supports the development and success of women in the international gaming industry.

Geoff Freeman, who replaced Fahrenkopf Jr. as president, confirmed Patterson’s departure in a memo to the group’s board of directors.

“She has been a key player in the creation and growth of Global Gaming Expo and G2E Asia, the two premier gaming industry events in the world,” Freeman said.

“She also created and spearheaded industry task forces to study and address issues as diverse as regulatory reform, taxes, bank secrecy act provisions, communications and responsible gaming.”

Meanwhile, online payment services company CAMS has announced that Mark Lipparelli is to join the firm as an adviser.

Lipparelli recently completed a four-year term with the Nevada state Gaming Control Board, where he worked on the approval of a regulatory framework for internet gambling. He also served as board chairman in 2011 and 2012.

In his new role with CAMS, he will offer the company guidance on the newly-regulated internet gambling industry.

“The future of US-based internet gambling lies with innovators like CAMS,” Lipparelli said. “My association with CAMS presents the opportunity to further shape the nascent internet gambling industry within the US.”

Matthew Katz, chief executive officer of CAMS, added, “Mark adds an additional layer of business acumen to our efforts.

“His vision for Nevada enabled the industry to move forward and provided the first licensed and regulated market for online gambling in the US. We will look to him for guidance as the industry continues to expand and evolve.”
