OPPO, Buick, and Others Sponsor PEL 2021, PEC to Feature $1.8M in Prize Money

Chinese esports solutions company VSPN and game publisher Tencent co-hosted a press conference detailing plans for  2021 Peacekeeper Elite esports.

During the conference, Leo Liao, marketing director of Tencent Interactive Entertainment Group and president of Peace Elite League (PEL), announced that the PEL 2021 Season will feature eight partners, including chief partner OPPO, three strategic partners Warhorse, Buick, and Qualcomm’s chip brand Snapdragon, as well as four industrial partners: chat service GOGO, e-commerce platform JingDong Esports, diary company Suansuanru, and chewing gum Stride.

In addition, Liao also announced that the Peacekeeper Elite annual event, Peacekeeper Elite Championship (PEC) will be hosted in Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena this summer, featuring a ¥12M RMB ($1.8M USD) in total prize pool money. The winners of PEL Season 1 and 2 will be directly invited to the event.

It’s not clear how Buick will be featured in PEL or whether the partnership deal is exclusive. In the Peacekeeper Elite game system, the game has in-game vehicle partnership deals with carmakers Maserati and Tesla. In December 2020, Tencent named Maserati and Tesla as the annual non-endemic partners of Peacekeeper Elite.
