Global casino giant Las Vegas Sands has announced the appointment of Nora M. Jordan as a new member of its Board of Directors following the resignation of former Microsoft executive and current President, Greater China for Nielsen, Yan Xuan.
According to a filing, Jordan will join the board from 1 January 2021 after Yan informed the company he would be stepping down from 31 December 2020 due to other work commitments.
“In connection with his resignation, Mr Yan noted that he greatly enjoyed working with the Company, the Board and the management team, that he was extremely proud of his association with the company because it is such a well-run and socially responsible organization, and that he wished the company all the best in its future endeavors,” LVS said.
Yan, who has held a variety of senior executive with global technology firms including Global Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, first joined the LVS board in September 2019.
His appointment was believed at the time to be strategic in nature given ongoing concerns over the US-China trade war and the upcoming license re-tendering for Macau casino concessions in 2022.
