Nevada Hit By Baccarat Performance As Revenue Falls In July

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has cited a drop in baccarat winnings as one of the main reasons behind a year-on-year decline in gambling revenue for the month of July.

Total gaming win in the US state last month amounted to $998m (€840m), down by 1.7% on July of last year, during which Nevada was able to surpass the $1bn threshold.

The state’s regulator said that the impressive performance in July 2016, as well as the fact that the month last year had an extra weekend day, made it difficult for Nevada to hit the same level this year.

Baccarat was hit the hardest in July, with casinos winning $120.9m from the card game, 19.6%, or $29.5m, less than the same month last year.

However, for the year to date, through to the end of July, overall casino revenue is up by 2.6% on last year.

The Nevada regulator expects to post impressive results for August due to the impact of the recent boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
