Encryption and digital currency start-up KryptoKit has announced that Bitcoin specialists Roger Ver, Erik Voorhees and Vitalik Buterin have joined the company in ownership roles.
In a statement, KryptoKit referred to the three new additions as “three of the biggest names in the Bitcoin space”.
Ver, chief executive officer of MemoryDealers.com, is often referred to as the ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ for his efforts in promoting the digital currency, as well as supporting other start-ups such as Bitcoin Store, BitInstant and Blockchain.info.
Voorhees is the co-founder of Coinapult, a company that specialises in allowing users to send Bitcoins via SMS and email.
He also served as marketing director of BitInstant and is co-founder of Twitter-based Bitcoin advertising platform FeedZeBirds and Bitcoin payment module Paysius.
Elsewhere, Buterin is the co-founder and head writer of specialist publication Bitcoin Magazine and is also involved in a number of Bitcoin software projects including pybitcointools and multisig.info.
Buterin is also a supporter of cryptocurrency 2.0 applications such as user-issued currencies and is also working on developing Ethereum, a next-generation cryptographic consensus network.
“Roger and Erik are probably two of the top Bitcoin spokespeople in the world and will be working with us on business strategy and other areas,” KryptoKit co-founder Anthony Di Iorio said.
Fellow KryptoKit co-founder Steve Dakh added, “Vitalik rounds out what is becoming a very diverse and capable team. As one of the top developers in Bitcoin, he will be a huge asset as we continue to develop and perfect our backend and programming.”
The news comes shortly after KryptoKit unveiled its plug-in at the Inside Bitcoins West conference in December.
