Jesper Kärrbrink, former CEO of Mr Green, has been appointed new chairman of Sweden-based online services provider Internet Vikings.
Founded by Rickard Vikström and Victor Jerlin, who were part of the hacker scene in the early 2000’s, hanging out on the chat channel # hack.se with the likes of the founders of Pirate Bay, Internet Vikings now offers cloud hosting solutions, SEO websites, domain names, and brand protection.
In 2018 the company racked up sales of around SEK 40 million (approx. €3.75m) and a profit of over SEK 1 million. The company now has offices in Sweden, Malta, Spain and Ukraine, plus a part-time presence in Manila, and is planning to open an office in Taiwan before the end of the year.
According to the company, it now plans to broaden its business and focus more on e-retailers and gaming companies.
Discussing his decision to join Internet Vikings since leaving Mr Green and returning home to Sweden from Malta, Kärrbrink is quoted by Swedish news site breakit.se as saying
“I have received a number of proposals since then and I have tried to make as wise choices as possible. I like Rickard and Victor and think they have built something long term and solid.
“This is a very interesting industry. Hosting and brand protection is not something that is written and talked about so much, but it is the foundation of a well-functioning Internet economy ”.
In addition to his time with Mr Green, Kärrbrink has also been CEO of Eniro and Svenska Spel, and held senior posts with the Bonnier Group.
