Japan IR’s set to open at the end of the decade. The Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has approved a proposal for a basic policy for the launch of integrated resorts (IR). According to that document, the first IRs in Japan will not be opened before the end of the 2020s. This takes into account the process of environmental assessment and construction.
In the latest meeting, LDP reconfirmed that the period for cities to present bids for one of the three casino licences will run from 1 October 2021 to 28 April 2022. The process was initially to take place in 2021 but was delayed by nine months due to the pandemic.
