HSBC Private Bank Appoints Siew Meng Tan as New Asia Pacific Head

Siew Meng Tan has been appointed HSBC’s new regional head of global private banking in Asia Pacific. In this new role Tan will be responsible for all private banking activity for HSBC Private Bank in Asia Pacific. She will be based in Hong Kong.

The appointment will become effective from January 1, 2017. Siew Meng will replace Bernard Rennell, who has been appointed as senior advisor to the chief executive for key client coverage in the global private banking business.

Rennell joined HSBC in Asia Pacific in July 2000. He is a former securities lawyer and has extensive experience in trust, wealth structuring, corporate and family governance, corporate finance and financial markets.

Siew Meng joined HSBC’s Singapore branch in 2004 as director of corporate and institutional banking and has since held various positions including head of HSBC Thailand until July 2015 and also served as CEO of HSBC Mauritius until January  2013.

A successor for Siew Meng as a senior banker in the commercial banking division of Europe’s biggest lender is yet to be announced.
