GTECH Corporation Premieres Game Market

American lottery technology provider GTECH Corporation is hoping to virtually eliminate the need for long development cycles after announcing the launch of the industry’s first centralised iLottery content library, the Game Market.

GTECH Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Italian lottery and gaming giant GTECH SpA, revealed that the Game Market houses a portfolio of electronic instant games developed through its Lottery Developer Network and will assist operators in expanding their content by serving as distribution mechanism much the same way as iTunes and Netflix assist the application and entertainment sectors.

“The Game Market is the next major building block in revolutionising the way in which interactive games are developed and brought to market for lotteries,” said Paul Riley, Lottery Interactive Product Marketing Vice-President for Providence-based GTECH Corporation.

“The Game Market puts the control of game content firmly in the hands of the operator and allows a lottery to rapidly update its product mix.”

Accessed via a secure private portal, the Game Market serves as a centralised repository of certified game content that lotteries can utilise in a manner similar to application stores. Clients may additionally view, try and assess titles based on past performances and submitted reviews.

“One of the challenges constantly facing the lottery industry is ‘time to market’ and this is especially important in the interactive space,” read a statement from GTECH Corporation.

“One of the unique features of the Game Market is that it allows a lottery to select and configure its game using the portal and then automatically generates the appropriate work order to install the game on the player-facing website.”

Game configuration options include selectable prize structures and grid sizes while clients are also able to configure every one of the prize tiers, payout percentages and progressive jackpots. Lotteries can also schedule go-live dates and times while the titles encompass seasonal and holiday themes while even including licensed property games.

“Each of these games available via the Game Market will be developed by approved partners that represent a broad spectrum of lottery and non-lottery, social and commercial content providers, game designers from all gaming sectors, who use the Lottery Developer Network to create the games,” read the statement from GTECH Corporation.
