Formula One driver introduces eSports team. British Formula One driver Lando Norris has launched an esports and content creation team. Team Quadrant, launched on November 6th, is said to be putting an emphasis on gaming, racing and content creation.
The driver who currently races for McLaren has banked over 600,000 followers on his Twitch channel, partly due to the delayed start of the 2020 F1 season.
“Quadrant is something I’ve wanted to do for a long while,” Norris told BBC Sport. “While racing will be a focus and be a bigger passion than almost any other esports, Quadrant is hopefully going to be expanding into many other different categories of esports and games.” he added.
Alongside Norris, Quadrant has recruited sim racing content creators Aarav “Aarava” Amin and Steve “Super GT” Alvarez Brown to its content creation team with gaming content creators Niran “FNG” Yesufu and “RiaBish”.
Norris becomes the second F1 driver to enter the esports arena following the launch of R8G eSports by French driver Romain Grosjean. R8G is a sim racing team competing across a range of platforms. The initial focus for the organisation will be on content creation and expanding its online presence before expanding into esports.
