In a recent interview with CNBC, former NYSE Group President Thomas Farley talked about the crypto space.
Farley was the President of the NYSE Group (which owns the New York Stock Exchange), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), between November 2013 and May 2018.
He made his comments about crypto while being interviewed last Thursday (April 22) by Andrew Ross Sorkin, a co-anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk Box”.
When asked by Sorkin if he is or would be an investor in Coinbase, Farley replied: “The only thing I find more exciting than debating you on tax policy… is talking about crypto. I’m all in. I think coinbase is a great company. As you may remember, I actually invested 10 million dollars in Coinbase in 2013 on behalf of the of the New York Stock Exchange.”
He went on to say: “I think the crypto space is amazing right now not withstanding the press it’s gotten I think it’s the the best kept secret in the world and maybe the history of the financial markets… DeFi exchanges are doing as much if not more than Coinbase today…”
Finally, with regard to the crypto asset class, he said: “I think it’s fascinating, and I think it’s here to stay. We’re past the point of no return.”
