Esports betting start-up Luckbox has appointed Aleksandar Dimitrov as head of product for sportsbook as part of preparations for the launch of its new platform.
Dimitrov (pictured) takes on the role having previously served as poker product manager at Playtech and also as head of product at Lottotech during a 10-year career in the gaming industry.
Dimitrov will work with the Luckbox development team in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to hone the esports-specific elements of the firm’s sportsbook offering.
Luckbox, founded by former PokerStars duo Lars Lien and Mike Stevens, is set to launch its new esports betting platform in early 2019, with support from Omega Systems.
“Luckbox is a company, which is involved in all the areas I am really passionate about – gambling, software, gaming and crypto,” Dimitrov said.
“The team in terms of talent and experience is simply amazing. Throw in the ambition that we have and our vision for the product and the market, and you can’t be anything else than pumped with excitement and motivation.”
Dimitrov becomes the latest senior hire at Luckbox ahead of the launch. He joins Quentin Martin, who was appointed chief operating officer in March, and Vadim Soloveychik, who came on board as chief marketing officer in April.
Ahead of next year’s launch, Luckbox has also obtained a top-tier gambling licence from the Isle of Man. The company has said that the licence will enable it to tackle markets such as Canada, the Nordics and CIS region.
Boris Mihov, chief product officer at Luckbox, said: “We’re working hard to build the strongest possible team – not only in terms of talent and experience but also passion for and understanding of esports.
“Finding someone to manage our sportsbook is a big part of the puzzle for us and to get someone of Alex’s calibre is just fantastic for our company and the rest of the team.”
