Facebook removes unlicensed Norwegian gambling pages. Facebook has removed 36 pages belonging to online gaming operators who are accused without local permission of targeting Norwegian punters. After Norway’s gambling regulator Lotteritilsynet notified the Facebook removed the pages that the pages violated Norway’s gambling laws.
Among the operators involved are the Gamesys Group’s Vera&John online casino brand, Coolbet’s Kommunepoker and Vennepoker brands, Gaming Innovation Group’s Rizk brand and Cherry AB’s ComeOn brand.
The Norwegian-language pages encouraged clients to patronize the internationally licensed gambling sites that compete with Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, the state-run operators of Norway. In addition to cracking off unauthorised marketing, Norway ‘s government has been targeting payment processing and imposing domain-blocking to ensure its online monopoly’s financial health.
Lotteritilsynet legal eagle Monica Alisøy Kjelsnes said the 36 pages also violated “Facebook’s own guidelines”.
