Equinix Secures Justin Dustzadeh as Chief Technology Officer

Global interconnection and data centre company Equinix, Inc. announced this week that it has a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), by securing former Uber employee Justin Dustzadeh for the role.

As the CTO, Dustzadeh is now responsible for creating a technology roadmap which will be used to support the company’s platform strategy. He will also be in charge of Equinix’s next-generation technology and innovation function, among other roles.

Dustzadeh’s career has spanned for more than 25 years, all of which has been based in technology and architecture-focused roles. Most recently, he was the Head of Global Network & Software Platform for Uber.

Commenting on the appointment, Charles Meyers, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Equinix, said: “We are thrilled to have Justin join the Equinix leadership team.”

“Justin’s depth of experience in developing technology strategy and transforming some of the world’s largest digital companies will be a powerful asset to Equinix as we drive the company forward, breaking new ground with our customers.”

Before he was at Uber and responsible for the 24/7 operations of Uber’s global network infrastructure and software platforms, Dustzadeh was working at Visa for more than two years.

As the Vice President and Head of Global Infrastructure Network Services, he helped move the payments company’s global infrastructure towards open, software-defined networking and cloud technologies, the statement said.

Throughout his more than two-decade career, Dustzadeh has also worked at Huawei as the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Technology Strategy, Ericsson, Divvio, AT&T Labs and more.
