Equinix Names Jeremy Deutsch as President of Asia Pacific

Data centre and global interconnection company Equinix, Inc. announced this Thursday that it has named long-time employee Jeremy Deutsch as President of Asia Pacific, succeeding Samuel Lee.

As the President of Asia Pacific, Deutsch will be responsible for regional management, strategy and growth plans for Equinix in the region which includes its existing operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Singapore, the statement said.

The appointment of Deutsch follows on from more than ten years working with the data center company. To take on this new role, Deutsch will be relocating from Sydney to Hong Kong. He will report to Equinix’s Chief Customer and Revenue Officer, Karl Strohmeyer.

Commenting on the appointment, Strohmeyer said: “Jeremy has a successful track record of growing and managing Equinix’s business in Australia over the last decade. His tenured experience working with customers as well as running Equinix’s business in Australia uniquely contributed to our success there, and I look forward to working closely with him on our growth strategy in all of Asia-Pacific.”

Deutsch originally joined Equinix back in 2008 as the Sales Director for the firm’s Australian operations. In this role, he was able to grow the sales team and business in the country. He also ranked as its top-performing sales leader in the APAC region for three consecutive years.

From here, Deutsch was promoted to Managing Director of Equinix Australia in 2014. This saw him lead the company’s Australian business strategy. As part of this, he facilitated the acquisition and integration of Metronode, which added 10 data centers. The deal was worth US$804 million.

“I am incredibly honored and thrilled to now serve the company in the role of President of Asia-Pacific. Asia-Pacific continues to be one of the fastest growing regions for us with both our global and local customers moving quickly to digitize their businesses and expand across our platform, and we continue to grow our business here,” added Deutsch.

“Together with the world-class Asia-Pacific team, we will continue to deliver unmatched services to our customers to accelerate their digital transformation journeys.”

Prior to working for Equinix, Deutsch was the General Manager of Products at Unwired Australia, a SingTel Optus group company. He has also worked at Pihana Pacific, which was acquired by Equinix in 2002.
