Deutsche Telekom Supports Esports Player Foundation

Major German telecoms firm Deutsche Telekom has been announced as a founding partner of the Esports Player Foundation.

A non-profit organisation, the Esports Player Foundation will strive to develop esports in Germany by promoting positive values and role models. This will include helping with career planning, scholarships and lifestyle and fitness advice.

Discussing the news Head of Group Sponsoring at Deutsche Telekom, Stephan Althoff, said:

“We offer players the opportunity to develop themselves in the best network with the best technology. At the same time, we enable young, talented people to live their dreams responsibly.”

While Co-founder of the Esports Player Foundation, Joerg Adami, added:

“With Telekom, a strong partner is committed to our initiative. Together we want to impart positive values ​​to young people and young adults. This includes teamwork, motivation and fair play. We also want to promote intercultural cooperation.”

Bonn-based Deutsche Telekom is taking an increasingly active role in supporting esports in Germany, having been the lead sponsor and tech partner of SK Gaming since 2018, and acquiring a 25% stake in the organisation just last month.

The company is also partnered with Riot Games’ Premier Tour, and offers Responsible Gaming workshops, featuring leading experts from the media and gaming sectors.
