Coinbase Pro To Launch Margin Trading in 23 US States

Coinbase Pro, the exchange interface of Coinbase, has announced margin trading for eligible customers.

According to the update published on Wednesday, margin trading is now available for selected Coinbase Pro customers in 23 U.S. states. Margin trading allows clients to leverage their investments by borrowing additional funds, increasing the risk and reward outcome.

The update claims that margin trading has been a highly requested feature by users, citing “Today we’re excited to announce the availability of margin trading for eligible Coinbase Pro customers. Margin has been one of our most requested features, and today we’re delivering an experience that we’re confident our customers will find intuitive, yet highly sophisticated and functional.”

Coinbase says the new feature is designed for “advanced traders” and provides access to leverage on the “most trusted pool of crypto liquidity.”

Margin trading is currently limited to clients who live within one of the 23 states where the feature is offered, in addition to users maintaining an active Coinbase Pro account and meeting certain deposit and withdrawal thresholds.

Coinbase says it intends to expand access to the product over the next year, as well as offering more types of collateral assets.
