3D online gambling site Casinofloor.com has gone live as the first first ever online casino not requiring plug-ins.
The site is powered by Sweden-based HTML5 developer Goo Technologies, which built the engine behind the site’s graphics, which it created to enable no download 3D-rich gaming content to simulate “a realistic casino experience for users”.
The principle behind the use of HTML5 is that product needs to be built just once and it can then be rolled out to a multitude of devices. And since the platform has been criticized for being slow, Goo Technologies uses WebGL technology to speed up its performance online.
One of Goo Technologies was founded around 18 months ago with the aim of developing HTML5 casino sites and is backed by Kaj Hel, who holds a 70% stake in Angry Birds producer Rovio.

The website is built entirely on HTML5 for desktop use, with a mobile version maybe at a later stage. As such, Casinofloor says it is the first virtual online casino to run fully in the browser without any plug-ins.
