Tel Aviv’s iconic Dizengoff Street is full of money changers, art galleries and coffee shops serving the many tourists from all around the world that the trendy area attracts. The latest attraction on the street is Bitcoin Change, a new venture by the team behind payments services provider Zotapay.
Only officially opening in September, FortuneZ observed that already tourists are taking photos of the place, coming in to ask about the cryptocurrency and actively buying Bitcoin. We tested the service as well and successfully bought a few Satoshis with cash.
The first ATM at the place supports cash deposits in Israeli Shekels and other major currencies used by tourists such as USD and EUR. Another machine is on the way to the place to enable changing from Bitcoin to altcoins. The venture has an Israeli currency services provider license, allows depositing bills as low as 100 NIS and follows AML regulations.
Co-founder Avner (Abe) Ziv commented: “The idea for the place came to me after trying to explain to my mother how to buy Bitcoin. It is currently too complex for many people to do online and mostly being done in Israel in a way that is more like buying something on the black market. We are making buying bitcoin accessible to all. We are non political and have no ideology other than that.”
Located at the former location of the Bauhaus Museum, Dizengoff 99, the upper floor of the center will serve as a Bitcoin Museum showcasing videos and art installations related to the history of the cryptocurrency. The rest of the premises will be used to host educational blockchain lectures, as a meeting place for cryptocurrency community meetups and even as a venue for ICO launch events.
