In a recent interview, billionaire investor and entrepreneur Mark Cuban explains why he owns both Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Cuban is the majority owner of the professional basketball team Dallas Mavericks, as well as one of the “sharks” on the highly popular reality show “Shark Tank” (which is aired on the ABC television network).
Cuban made his comments during an appearance as a guest on an episode of the “Delphi Podcast” that was released on March 25.
He had this to say about Bitcoin:
“You could… with Bitcoin… do transfers and that was great… and it was a store of value and that was awesome. It’s a better alternative to gold, which is phenomenal… It’s taking money away from gold, and it’s going to continue, and that’s why I own Bitcoin and why I never sold it... “
He then talked about why he likes Ethereum:
“With Ethereum… it’s changing. It’s adaptable over time, and you’re seeing that going to 2.0. And you know, 1559, and all these Ethereum improvement proposals. That is is more lifelike, and so I have a lot of Ethereum as well. I wish I had bought it sooner, but I started buying it four years ago, simply because I think it’s as close as we have to a true currency…“
As for the breakdown of his crypto portfolio, he said that “60% I allocated to Bitcoin, 30% to Ethereum, and 10% to other crypto assets (e.g. Aave)”.
According to data by CryptoCompare, $ETH is currently trading around $1,992, up 2.8% in the past 24-hour period.
