The Halo Championship Series has tapped Vindex-owned Esports Engine as its global management partner for Halo Infinite esports. The company will work with Xbox Game Studios-owned developer 343 Industries on building out the game’s esports program including formats, league operations, and broadcasts.

In its prime, Halo esports was largely organized through the Major League Gaming (MLG) circuit, which was created by Vindex co-founders Mike Sepso and Sundance DiGiovanni in 2002. It was purchased by Activision Blizzard in 2016. Esports Engine CEO and co-founder Adam Apicella was also a founding MLG employee. Thus, although Esports Engine launched in October of last year alongside Vindex, the company is already experienced operating Halo esports.
