Team Liquid Parent aXiomatic Gaming Promotes Mark Vela to CEO

Video game and esports investment platform and Team Liquid parent company aXiomatic Gaming announced Tuesday that Mark Vela has been promoted from his role as chief strategy officer to become the company’s chief executive officer. Vela will officially take on the role beginning April 30. Current CEO Bruce Stein, a co-founder who has been in the role since 2015, will remain committed to the company as an investor.

Vela was promoted to his current role in December of 2020.

In his roles as vice president of strategy and then CSO, Vela helped land aXiomatic land investments in Pokémon GO developer Niantic and NBA Top Shots developer Dapper Labs.

In his new role, he’ll lead new investments as well as manage existing investments in companies like Team Liquid and Epic Games, according to a release.
