Cyberpunk 2077 Developer Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Botched Release

Cyberpunk 2077 developer faces class action lawsuit over botched release. Polish game developer CD Projekt is facing a class action lawsuit over the failed launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which has now clouded the company’s image in what has become one of the most popular flame-outs in the history of video game.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of investors, and claims that CD Projekt made materially false statements by failing to release Cyberpunk 2077 “was virtually unplayable on the current-generation Xbox or Playstation systems due to an enormous number of bugs.”

The complaint refers to a number of optimistic comments made by executives about the pre-release game, including the October Earnings Call, where Joint CEO Adam Kiciński said, “I wouldn’t say there’s a ‘problem’ because there’s nothing wrong with Xbox or PS4 versions.”

The lawsuit alleges that the failure to report the problems of the game amounts to a violation of the federal securities laws and calls for an undisclosed amount of damages.

New York-based Rosen Law Firm, which filed the suit, is still looking for plaintiffs to join the case, and notes in a press release that a class hasn’t been certified yet.
