LMAX Exchange Group, an operator of institutional exchanges in the electronic FX trading and cryptocurrency sectors, announced this Monday that is managed to recruit Himanshu Kher as its Group Treasurer.
Kher joins LMAX Exchange in this newly created role from IG Group, where he was also the Group Treasurer. In his new position, he will report to Grant Pomeroy, the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at LMAX.
Himanshu Kher’s duties at LMAX
As the Group Treasurer at LMAX Exchange, Kher will provide leadership and management of all the Group’s Treasury activities. He will also advise senior management on risk management strategies for foreign exchange, the statement said.
Other duties include the oversight of bank relationships, optimizing cash and working capital management processes, and identify opportunities to enhance the revenue contribution of the Treasury Department.
Including his tenure at IG Group, Kher brings more than 18 years worth of experience in treasury, corporate finance, risk management, and stakeholder management roles. Many of these positions have been at well-known global brokerages, banks, and consulting organizations.
Kher departs IG Group after almost four years
At IG Group, Kher was the Group Treasury for just under four years. He led the brokerage’s Treasury team on an interim based from February 2015 until May 2015, and then on a permanent basis from then on. In this role, he was responsible for managing the supply and demand of cash and capital within the group to create sustainable value for the firm, his LinkedIn states.
Commenting on the appointment Grant Pomeroy, the Group CFO said: “The establishment of this new position within the Group’s Treasury function is a clear demonstration of how quickly LMAX Exchange has grown in recent years. Efficient management of our growing cash resources is vital to cementing our position as a profitable, high-growth player in global capital markets.”
Before his tenure at IG Group, Kher was employed at another well-known financial firm – Barclays. While here, he was a Director within Group Treasury at Barclays. Other notable roles for Kher include senior risk-management consulting roles at Boston Consulting Group and PwC LLP.
During his career, he has also been a Trader at BNP Paribas for one year from 2008 until 2009. In 2003 Kher started his career as an M&A banker with Nomura Securities in Hong Kong, where he worked for four years.
