Sweden-based software development company Cubeia has announced that it is to support the Bitcoin virtual currency on its business-to-business poker network as part of an expansion into new markets.
Bitcoin support will be added to the enterprise version of Cubeia Poker and will also be supported in the Cubeia Network and Cubeia Firebase.
The confirmation from Cubeia that it would support Bitcoin comes in the wake of a number of other companies also opting to accept the virtual currency as its popularity continues to grow.
Social gaming company Zynga recently said that it would start accepting the virtual currency as a payment option from gamers that buy tokens for virtual goods.
Away from the gaming industry, North American NBA basketball team the Sacramento Kings recently became the first major sports franchise to confirm it would accept the virtual currency.
“Cubeia has followed the evolution of Bitcoin closely the last couple of years and we’re convinced it is here to stay,” Cubeia chief executive officer Fredrik Johansson said. “We’re very happy to be able to offer the B2B market an opportunity join this exciting frontier.”
