BLAST Terminates Controversial Saudi Arabian Neom City Deal

BLAST terminates controversial Saudi Arabian Neom City deal. Denmark-based organizer of esports tournament, BLAST has terminated its controversial partnership with Saudi Arabian city Neom.

The deal received a widespread outrage from esports fans and teams with broadcasters also jumping in to question the deal.

There is continuing controversy over the imminent displacement of around 20,000 members of the Huwaitat tribe who have lived in the place for centuries where the new city is planned.

Neom is a city in the Tabuk province of Saudi Arabia. A major tourist attraction costing $500 billion is planned there, labeled “humanity’s next chapter”, which will feature feature flying cars, robot dinosaurs and an artificial moon.
