CFDs brokerage firm, CMC Markets today said it has signed a one-year deal to become a major sponsor of cricket team, the Sydney Sixers. The deal covers the 2020/21 season.
Cricket is Australia’s most played sport, and its national Big Bash League is one of the fastest-growing games, which makes sense for CMC Markets to pad up and join in this winter.
The Sydney Sixers join CMC Markets’ roster of Aussie sports properties including its recent sponsorship deal with the football team, St Kilda FC and rugby team, NSW Waratahs.
Although the specific details of the sponsorship agreement have not been disclosed yet, securing the ‘official partner’ status often includes a presence on official club advertising materials and joint digital campaigns.
Teaming up with Sydney Sixers opens up an exciting opportunity for CMC Markets to target families through a broad attendee and viewership market. The Sixers often draws a large TV audience for their matches, and the number has seen growth year on year which enables sponsors to deliver their marketing messages in a fun and entertaining way.
The deal not only offers media facing assets but also an engaging opportunity to connect with hundreds of thousands of Sydney Sixers fans and Big Bash League followers on online channels. Additionally, the Sixers have the highest social media following of any cricket team on Facebook and Instagram.
Cat Gallagher, CMC Markets Head of Commercial for Asia Pacific, elaborated by saying that: “Synonymous with the Australian summer, Cricket is a tradition adored by fans across the country. As one of the most successful teams in the BBL, the Club’s strong focus on inclusivity and leadership resonated strongly with us as a partner.”
“The Sydney Sixers are one of the country’s premier sporting clubs who provide Sydney’s best value summer entertainment. At the same time, CMC Markets are Australia’s best value online broker, and between us, we are both passionate about innovation and customer experience. We are really excited to work with CMC Markets to bring some of BBL’s most engaging data to the devices of our fans,” said Sydney Sixers General Manager, Jodie Hawkins.
