Albania Set To Ban Offshore Online Gambling Websites

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has said that the government is to prepare legislation to block access to online gambling websites that are based outside of the country.

According to the Bloomberg news agency, Rama said that the move would help to stop the outflow of money from one of the poorest countries in Europe.

Calculations from domestic and international analysts suggest Albanians spend a collective total of between €500-700 million ($675-945 million) per year on gambling websites based outside the country.

The report did not disclose the amount Albanians spend on domestic gambling.
