Alessio Romagnoli, captain of AC Milan and centre back of the Italian National Team, has launched his own esports team.
“AR13, Team Romagnoli” will be fully-managed by virtual sports talent lab Pro2Be Esports, and aims to field some of the most competitive Italian and international FIFA 20 players.
Players already confirmed for AR13 include Cosimo Guarnieri aka ‘NBD2699’, who ranked #40 worldwide and #2 in Italy for FIFA 19, and has participated in 5 international events organised by Electronic Arts over the past season. He was the only Italian player to make it through to the Knockout Stage of the Global Series Playoff in Berlin on PS4.
Emiliano Di Gianni aka ‘Di Gianni’ will also be taking to the pitch for AR13. He has more experience in the competitive scene, having participated in the Global Series Playoff in Amsterdam in 2018. In the 2019 season he played in the online stage of the FIFA eClub World Cup, and ended the season ranked #7 in Italy on Xbox One. Gianni is also an influencer, with thousands of followers on social media, particularly on Twitch.
Completing the roster the debut AR13 roster is Giuseppe Magliarella aka ‘InfernoBoy’, who will take on the roles of both player and coach for the new team. Having built his coaching experience on FIFA19, he participated in the Global Series Playoff in Berlin as coach of NBD2699.
Just as with traditional sports teams, AR13 says its players will be supported by experienced managers and qualified staff, including both technical and mental coaches.
Discussing the partnership Co-founder and Marketing and Communication director at Pro2Be Esports, Roberto Forzano, said:
“We are enthusiast of working on such an important project for the Italian and European scene. This new partnership, and in particular the first one with a football player popular as Alessio, shows the continuous growth of our company. We are looking forward to undertake this new adventure with the goal of promoting the AR13 brand”
While owner of AR13, Team Romagnoli, Alessio Romagnoli himself added:
“I am a huge fan of videogames and FIFA in particular. Last year I became interested into esports by following the most competitive international pro players and so I got fascinated by the great tournaments that took place around the world. I understood that the traditional and the virtual football speak the same language. That’s why I decided to create my own team, which has my name on it. The goals are to compete at the highest levels of this virtual world and to entertain the fans.”
